What do you think about people who deliberately go into debt maxing out their credit cards and everything else under the sun. And than get out of paying their bills by declaring bankruptcy ? I know a person who is greatly in debt through irresponsibility and a lawyer told her just give me such and such money and we;ll take care of this for you. Not fair to the people who are responsible. What do you think about it.

I don’t approve of it. I also worked my tail off to get out of debt, and I figure everyone else can do it too (unless they have a severely limiting chronic illness). Heck, I was diabetic since age 11 w/ a couple of diabetic complications, and it did not keep me from working 2 jobs.
But it sounds like the person you know is doing it deliberately.
I don’t really trust people like that. They might steal from you personally.
If the court believes you deliberately incurred debt with the intent of filing bankruptcy, your bankruptcy won’t happen. As for irresponsibility, I have little sympathy for people that spend money thay don’t have. I spent 18 months working a second job to get out of my non-mortgage debt. There will NEVER be any more.
