Our “starter loan” is now considered a “sub-prime loan”. We’ve been attempting a loan modification with Countrywide for over ten months and making no progress. But, our HELOC with HSBC is even worse. What is better, that I contact the lender myself or to hire a lawyer, how can I make sure I get the best deal, doing myself or with a lawyer, any advise?? Is California one of the states which holds me responsible for the balance of the loan when they sell my house in foreclosure? my bank uses income from a rental I own as income even though it all goes to expenses and I am $800 a year negative…They don’t consider the expenses, just the income. this disqualifies me for a modification loan..Does anybody know how to resolve this? please i need answers I’d like to modify the terms of my loan but am having a difficult time deciding whether I should pursue this challenge myself or use the services of a loan modification company/agent.
